Guía de Arrecife

What's happening in Lanzarote and La Graciosa, every morning

About

What is Guía de Arrecife

Guía de Arrecife is a daily round-up of the news in Lanzarote and La Graciosa. Every morning we go through what the island's online media publish, plus press releases from the Cabildo and the seven town councils, and pick the stories that matter most to people who live and work here: island and local politics, housing, jobs, public services, traffic, tourism, the environment and significant incidents. We also cover what matters to businesses and SMEs, including news from the Chamber of Commerce and the island's business associations, cybersecurity alerts, what's trending on social media, and what's on across the island.

In the social media section we only include viral stories that a news outlet has already reported. We don't publish rumours or content that exposes private individuals.

Each story is told in our own words, in a few lines, and always links to the outlets that published it. We don't copy text or photos: the cover illustrations are our own. For the full story, the place to read it is the original source, which is usually in Spanish.

In two languages

Everything is published in Spanish and English, so residents and visitors who don't speak Spanish can follow island news too.

Our editorial policy

We are independent of any party, but not neutral about values: we stand for human rights, peace and the people who need it most. We explain this in our editorial policy.

How it's made

Stories are selected, written and translated with the help of artificial intelligence, always following the same rules: no sponsored content or rumours, one entry when several outlets report the same thing, and a clear note when a fact hasn't been confirmed.

Corrections

If you spot a mistake in a summary, or you're the outlet we cite and want something changed, get in touch and we'll look at it as soon as possible.
