Water battle: the island's Water Consortium wins another round against Canal

A court has rejected both interim measures that Canal de Isabel II requested against Lanzarote's Water Consortium.

Canal wanted two things: to force the Consortium to take over all the contracts Canal Gestión had with suppliers, and full access to archives, software and facilities. The administrative court in Las Palmas said no to both.

The judge found it contradictory that Canal is asking for the handover of the service to be annulled while at the same time demanding measures to carry it out. It is the Consortium's second win in a week: on the 19th the court refused to halt the seizure of the €8 million guarantee.

No need to celebrate just yet: this is not a ruling on the merits of the case, and Canal can appeal within 15 days.
